        CORAL GABLES, Fla. (July 2, 2009) ---- Marisol Gomez of the law firm of Gamba & Lombana was recently elected to serve as the secretary of the Miami-Dade Local Advisory Council of ASPIRA of Florida, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides leadership development and educational programs for Puerto Rican and minority children throughout the state. She will be responsible for the recording and administration of the local council’s activities in Miami-Dade, including its work and programs at various charter schools in South Florida.

        “I am very excited and proud to have been nominated and asked to serve in this capacity,” said Gomez. “ASPIRA of Florida is a very worthwhile organization, and I look forward to serving in the local advisory council and helping to make a positive impact for the many local students who participate in ASPIRA’s programs.”

        Gomez currently serves as a member of the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar’s Young Lawyers Division. She is currently serving her fourth year on the Board of the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, where she will be appointed as the secretary for the upcoming 2009-2010 year, and she is also the chairperson for the Puerto Rican Bar Association’s 2009 Annual Gala. Gomez is currently a member of the Dade County Bar Association, Cuban American Bar Association, Florida Justice Association and the National Conference of Puerto Rican Women. She earned a law degree from St. Thomas University School of Law in May 2005 and an MBA in corporate finance and legal implications (2002) along with a bachelor's degree in business administration and criminology (1999) from the University of Miami.
